Cheti Chand, or Jhulelal Jayanti, is the most well-known festival in Sindhi culture. It is observed mostly in Jhulelal temples. Laal Sai, Udero Lal, Varun Dev, Dulah Lal, Dariya Lal, and Zinda Peer are just a few of the other names that Baba Jhulelal goes by.
The Sindhi New Year is celebrated on the second day of the brighter lunar fortnight (Shukla Paksha) in the month of Chaitra. People worship to Lord Varun, the Hindu god of wealth and prosperity, on this night (Deity of Water). There are others who believe that Jhulelal is a manifestation of the Water Divine. The traditional values and beliefs of the Sindhu community are also celebrated at Cheti Chand 2023, in addition to its religious significance. During Cheti Chand, Sindhis don their finest attire for the annual Jhulelal procession. Cultural performances and langarsaab round up the festivities (free prasad for all).
The Hindus and the Muslims alike hold Jhulelal in the highest regard. Let's learn more about the Jhulelal temples in Delhi, where they are so well-known.
