Lonely Soul

Branches drooping
Bending, breaking,
Heavily laden with snow.

Towering treetops
Reaching upwards
Grasping for warmth from the sun.

Mostly forgotten
Nearly forsaken
Stars popping out one by one.

Crisp wintry night
Frozen in time
Glimpses of life fleeting by.

Glimmer of light
Break of the dawn
Bringing slight hope once again.

Sun rays peek through
Glittering frost
Stillness and quiet within.

Deafening noise
Avalanche rolls
Crushing all movement of life.

Finally a shift
Rising and free
Comfort and peace come to me.

Onward I go
Heav'nward bold
Lonely no more for my soul.
