Knowledge is Power…

That old saying that “knowledge is power” is evident in many people’s lives.

I often think of stories of people who come from nothing and are able to change their life and their situation. They are able to change the world because of new knowledge that they receive.

Knowledge doesn’t have to be education in the form of formal schooling, although that can be part of it. Knowledge can be learning from a mentor or friend about a new way to do something.

I’ve often heard it said to take advice from people whose position you would want to be in - that means learning from them. That means gleaning knowledge from them.

Think about someone you know who was totally broke and terrible at managing their finances. Then they learned something new - it could be a new process for managing their money, or a new way to earn income, or schooling that allowed them to get a better job - and soon they are in a completely different financial position.

I always like to add something to the saying “knowledge is power”...I prefer it to go like this:

“Knowledge is power when there is action put behind it!” Knowledge is great, but if we do nothing with the new knowledge that we acquire, then we are stuck with a bunch of potential. But unused potential doesn’t equate to anything.

The person who turned their financial situation around, learned something new and then put it into action! If they didn’t act on their new knowledge, they would still be stuck in the same broke position as before.

So knowledge is power, but only when we choose to do something with it!

Interesting Fact #1

Few people are aware that it was Sir Francis Bacon who coined the Latin phrase “scientia potentia est,” which literally translates into “for also knowledge itself is power.”

SOURCE

Interesting Fact #2

In time the phrase was abbreviated to the shorter version we are familiar with today: “knowledge is power.” Used widely to promote a lifestyle of ongoing education and personal growth, the phrase has earned a prominent place in our modern vernacular.

Interesting Fact #3

It’s what you do with the knowledge you acquire that defines your power. If you don’t convert knowledge into action, it will remain a source of untapped energy. Imagine sitting in your car at a gas station, and your tank is empty. The solution to your dilemma is within your grasp. All you have to do is fill up, and you can be on your way again. But until you actually get out of the car and take action, that fuel will be of no use to you whatsoever, even though it is readily available. As such, it remains untapped.

Quote of the day

“The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.” ― Socrates

Article of the day - Knowledge is Power

“Education is the most important weapon, which can be used to change the world”. Such a wonderful quote by the famous personality Sir. Nelson Mandela, it says a lot even before trying to understand it completely. If we can focus more on to it, there won’t be any hatred and wars going around.

First let me clear the difference between knowledge and education, education is something that we learn from our schools, colleges, or any other teaching centre, where as knowledge can be learned and also earned throughout life. We can earn knowledge from various ways like learning, observing, experiencing, practising, and many more. To earn knowledge you don’t need a particular way, it has its own way to reach everyone. Some preach to spread knowledge where as some discuss. Most of the time knowledge is earned by a person through his own life experiences.

There is no particular age limit to learn something new, we can keep learning till end and keep earning the knowledge. We learn something to get the knowledge out of it and not to boost the ego to show superiority in front of others. Respect the knowledge, it will take you to a level ahead in your life. Never limit yourself with what you have, the more you discuss the more you earn. This will only help you to get more and more about different things. You are always surrounded by a group of people, friends or whatsoever, they may or may not be of same educational background or traditional or work as of you, they will be aware of something that you may not know or you may have something good to share which they think might help and this is possible is you start a conversation and discuss amongst yourself. This will make everyone share what they know and also learn new things at the same time.

Elderly are always treated as people of high knowledge or wise people even though they don’t acquire a degree and the reason is the experience and knowledge about most of the things they have come through their life, our own parents will have so much to share about different things which they used to see in a different way as compared to that of the world it sees now. Discussing with them will help us learn something new, it may be your own tradition or way of living, the art of living and so on, start now.

Earlier days people used to keep discussing when they had time in the evening after their work which made them keep everyone together and help others whenever required, they used to have knowledge of almost everything like work, medicine, life. Today’s generation is just on to social media posting some stuff that may or may not be relevant to others. Social media is also a way to learn new things only if used in a proper way. You may know something good, share that in social media and make everyone aware of that, this will also help keep people in touch even in this pandemic which is keeping us apart.

Sharing knowledge will never make you poor instead it will make you wise, never be selfish to keep things with you or greedy just to learn as much and not to share, sharing is caring. The process of learning never stops and that doesn’t mean you will put a limit on yourself. A person with different options of answering a question will have a better way of living than just following one single rule. You may have one particular way of approach to problems, your friend may have some other way, never criticise others for doing it wrong if they choose to do differently, at least they are trying something new, maybe it will lead to something better. Grab all the knowledge that is available in your footsteps and never leave anything behind.

If you are restricting yourself from learning ahead or not ready to know something new, there is very little chance that you may reach your goal in a short time. If you are open to whatever new things are coming to you, you will have a wide range of varieties to use and will excel in a short period of time.

One important thing is to admire those who point out your mistakes and problems. These are not your enemies instead they are helping you to improve more the next time. The way of communicating may vary, but never let yourself down but overcome those problems and shine brighter the next time. These people who point out your mistakes may have some other way of approaching or may have new ideas to share, go through them and feel free to use them, this will make you better as you are gaining more and more.

The reason to discuss and learn more is to make yourself better and help others to improve themselves. It always comes back to helping others as this will make you more selfless and be more interactive and open to everyone. The more you learn and share, the world will become wiser and people will behave well with others, the way of living may change to some, at last, the world will become more peaceful. Learn more share more.
