New Summer Hobbies to Pick Up

If you're anything like me, you may have had a bit of a wrench thrown into your summer plans. Unexpected cancellations, unusually packed beaches, and filled up campsites means that I'm getting creative this summer to find new hobbies, activities, and ways to have fun!

Since team sports are out, hiking will largely play a big role in my summer! Being active and staying healthy is so important, I'm excited to find new ways to get exercise and fresh air.

Research online classes available -- there's tons of free resources right now to learn new skills like art, dance, writing, acting, whatever your heart desires!

Ever had a secret desire to start your own business? There's never been a more perfect time. Get started this summer, jump into planning, prepping, and exploring where your dreams and passions can take you!

Try gardening! Whether you've got an acreage or a basement suite with low light, what better opportunity to learn about what you can grow and how?

Take up at-home bartending. Perfect your cocktails and impress your friends. Also, gives you a great side hustle if you ever need to make some extra cash!

This summer may not be the same as last, and it probably won't be like the next one either. But each season in our lives holds new adventures, opportunities, and chances to become new!

Quote of the day

I’m bored’ is a useless thing to say. I mean, you live in a great, big, vast world that you’ve seen none percent of. Even the inside of your own mind is endless; it goes on forever, inwardly, do you understand? The fact that you’re alive is amazing, so you don’t get to say ‘I’m bored.

Article of the day - 15 Fun Ideas for Hobbies to Try this Summer

Not all of us work in creative fields, and even if we do, not every day is an opportunity to flex our creativity muscle. As children, most of us tried new things and picked up hobbies (even if it was just rock collecting) much more frequently, which provided tons of little creative outlets around us all the time. But as we get older, somehow our free time gets more easily filled with popcorn and Netflix.

And while there’s nothing wrong with vegging out every now and then, there are so many other ways to expand your world!

There’s no time like the summer to take advantage of the long nights and extra energy that all that sunshine brings. So here’s to intellectual pursuits, volunteering, heading outdoors, and getting active or creative. If you’re not sure where to start, these hobbies are either creative, healthy, relaxing or productive (the latter defined loosely, don’t worry). Happy hobbying!
