Duplex Steel UNS S32205 Round Bar
A two-phase, ferritic, austenitic stainless steel called UNS S32205 is alloyed with nickel ranging from 5% to 6%, molybdenum, and 22% to 24% chromium. Its yield strength is twice as great as that of austenitic stainless steel standard grades, making it the most widely used duplex stainless steel grade. It performs well in the majority of caustic conditions, has high pitting and crevice corrosion resistance, and is easy to weld.
Duplex steel UNS S32205 round bar is used in a variety of industrial equipment, including welded pipe, tubular parts, pulp and paper digesters, liquor tanks, paper machines, transport and storage of chemicals, and equipment for oil and gas exploration and processing. The microstructure of UNS S32205, also known as Duplex Alloy Grade 2205, is two-phase, or dual ferritic and austenitic. A stainless steel alloy with 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, and 5 to 6% nickel is found in UNS S32205 round bars.
The duplex stainless alloy UNS S32205 Duplex Steel Round Bar is also resistant to stress corrosion cracking caused by sulfides. Sour gas or sour-well settings can lead to the development of sulfide stress cracking. The brittle micro-components of the ASTM A276 UNS S32205 Rod grade alloy precipitate at temperatures higher than 300 °C. The micro-constituents move from being ductile to brittle at temperatures below -50°C. In both of these situations, the alloy is prone to brittleness and loses its usefulness.
Applications of Duplex Steel Round Bars
The alloy has great resistance to corrosion, making it widely used in factories and commercial establishments. Round Duplex steel bars are used in the petroleum refinery to create the pipes that deliver crude oil to the facility for processing. Since this alloy can withstand steam, fluids, or any substance, it is used for the exterior coating of boilers. Because they can tolerate water for a long time, pipes made of duplex steel are utilized in pipelines. Due to its resistance to water and steam, this alloy is utilized in cooling towers, and it is also used to make steam exhausts. Due to its compatibility with electricity, this alloy grade is employed in power plants.
Numerous industries employ duplex steel. The output of these industries is enormous. Due to a number of characteristics, duplex steel can withstand extreme pressures and environmental conditions without losing its functionality. There are several grades of this steel, each with a unique set of applications. Duplex steel round bars come in a variety of forms and sizes, and are used in equipment for papermaking, waste treatment, pharmaceuticals, and food processing. The food and beverage industries typically utilize pipes constructed of SS round bars because they can tolerate any reaction to foods. The alloy is used all over the world due to its resistance and strength. Duplex steel round bars have the advantage of being stronger and more corrosion-resistant in any circumstance.
