For people having loose, ill-fitted, broken or missing teeth, dental implants can be a boon. Dental Implants are widely used to replace a missing tooth, dentures, or even a whole row of missing teeth.
A dental implant is permanent tooth replacement that looks and feels like your natural tooth. In addition to giving you a stunning smile, the replacement teeth also let you chew food properly and improve your quality of life dramatically.
An Overview
A dental implant is a fake tooth root that is drilled into the jaw bone to support an artificial tooth. Two or more implants can serve as a restoration for a group of teeth.
This artificial titanium root device is surgically placed into the jawbone where one tooth or a set of teeth is missing. A natural-looking false tooth or a set of false teeth (crowns) is then placed over the implanted root. The titanium root acts as an anchor for replacement tooth and provides stable support for a number of dental restorations, including crowns, bridges or dentures.
Kinds of Teeth Implantation
Widely considered a form of cosmetic dentistry, dental implants are segregated into 3 basic types- Endosteal Implant, Plate Form Implant and Subperiosteal Implant. Implants dental in kota
Endosteal Dental Implant: Also called 'Root Form' this cylindrical or screw type implant is shaped like the root of a tooth and implanted into the jaw to provide a base for one, several or a complete arch of artificial teeth. This type of tooth implantation is only used where there is width and depth of jawbone is plentiful. The root form implants look like the original tooth, and are the most used of all types of dental implants. The recovery period for Endosteal implant may take 3 to 6 months.
Plate Form Implant: These are usually used when the jawbone is too narrow for bone grafting. This kind of implant is flat and long in shape so it can fit into the narrow jawbone. During implantation, a dental surgeon carefully sets the plate into place and closes the gums with several stitches. When healing is complete, the crown is attached to the implant. Like Root Form, Plate form implant may too take up to 6 months for healing.
Subperiosteal Implant: This kind of implant may be prescribed when there's not enough bone width or height for the Root Form or Plate Form implants. It is a custom-made implant to rest on top of the jawbone but underneath the gums.
The Subperiosteal implant can be positioned on the bone in to ways: Single surgery and dual surgery method.
For the "single surgery" method a CAT scan of the jawbone is taken. Using the CAT scan information and the state of the art computer modeling techniques, a model of the jawbone is constructed. This computerized model is used by a dental laboratory to create the custom-fit subperiosteal implant. A dentist then surgically positions the implant on the bone. Afterwards, the gums are closed with several stitches and the artificial teeth are attached to the implant.
In the "dual surgery" method, the dentist will cut through the gums and take an impression of the bone using special materials. The gum is then sealed up. This model is then submitted to the dental laboratory where the dental implant is custom-made to fit your jaw. The next procedure is then carried out where the dentist again cut opens the gums and places the implant. The gums are again closed with several stitches. Orthodontic treatment in kota
