Pretty Things
In life we give certain words “power”
It’s sad, but it’s oh so true
And as human beings, we want to fit into that “acceptable mold”
We sometimes disregard what’s right and wrong
We look past the common sense
And we hold on to more of the negative than positives we are told
They tell you what matters is what’s on the inside
They tell you that “words” aren’t as painful as sticks and stones
But What they don’t tell you is some folks can’t look past your surface
Some really don’t care about your “heart”
They don’t tell you folks can’t get past your skin and bones
So little cousin I’m going to give you some advice
Advice no one ever gave me
Advice that would have saved me years of pain, hurt, and endless tears
I’m not going to tell you how beautiful you are (because it’s obvious 😉)
I’m not going to tell you “they’re just haters”
What I’m going to say is something most still need to hear
The Bible tells us “we are Gods handiwork”
Created in His image for His purpose
Which means , We are too beautiful to even explain
No mere mortal man, woman, or child can comprehend that
I mean I was create by the Masters hand
Can imagine how amazing that is to proclaim
So I learned when you call me something that I know I’m not
When you try and hurt me to the core
When you want to feel like I’m not a direct descendant of the Almighty King
I simply take a look in my mirror and smile greatly
I fix my hair and gloss my lips
And I sit back and realize My Father ONLY makes ... Pretty Things
