Gainwell Engineering on Monday announced the launch of its operations by entering into a technology licensing agreement for underground mining equipment with Caterpillar, a global leader in construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, industrial gas turbines and diesel-electric locomotives.
The agreement will enable Gainwell Engineering to manufacture medium & high seam underground room & pillar Equipment to support the growing coal production in India and other countries around the world. Coal remains the mainstay of energy security for India and emerging economies and this initiative will again make the reliable, superior Room & mining equipment available to the global customers. As a part of this agreement, Gainwell Engineering will also supply after-market spare parts and render service support to the existing active population of licensed Caterpillar Room & Pillar Equipment and Highwall Miner.

Gainwell Engineering would locate its manufacturing business headquarters in Kolkata, India with its plant being set up across 35 acres in Panagarh, West Bengal, India at an investment of Rs 500 crores that when fully developed will create an employment opportunity of more than 250 people of highly skilled technicians.
