ALIVE and AWARE
Alive and aware, diligent and determined,
Happy and grateful, I never feel burdened.
I’m never deterred, beaten or broken,
My life has great worth, I won’t be a token.
I’m vibrant, I’m fit, muscular and slim,
I eat right, live right, full of vigor and vim.
I create and produce always more than expected,
I’m aware of my shortcomings, my vices rejected.
Optimistic for sure, positive almost to fault,
Wholesome and honest, of the earth I am salt.
Confidence and decency and humility projected,
Family and loved ones cared for and protected.
I’m calm and I’m sure, I never feel tense,
I place major importance on uncommon sense.
Compassionate and sharing, loving and caring,
A little bit brazen, a little bit daring.
In the eyes of my children, my banker, my peers,
I’m successful and complete at the end of my years.
I play hard I dream big, I give more than I take,
I never dwell on disappointment for my goodness sake.
I never shoot the first bullet or cast the first stone,
I believe in no borders, we all have a home.
I believe in my heart we’re all doing our best,
So I never criticize, I never poke jest.
I forgive and forget, I won’t pass the buck,
I leave little to chance, I make my own luck.
I’m on top of the world, there’s pie in the sky,
I’m always amazed and I still wonder why.
Mistakes and mishaps are a great part of life,
A learning opportunity, not doom, angst or strife.
Sometimes I know, sometimes on a limb,
Sometimes it’s planned, sometimes it’s a whim.
I say a promise is a promise, a shake means for sure,
It’s about peace, love and others, in hope I concur.
Anger and jealousy, envy great sins,
Our sense of fulfillment comes from within,
I believe there’s a God, in goodness and self,
Insecurity and doubt I leave on the shelf.
There’s death I’m aware, though I’m never afraid,
I ask for forgiveness, my debts are all paid.
In the end, be it said that I’ve tried on this earth,
To honour this credo, to be of some worth.
He said “Buck up, pal, and give all that you can,
And prove to this world that you’re a worthy man”.
This is my destiny, my quest, part of life’s master plan,
I am who I am, that’s all that I’ll be
‘Till I believe that I can.
I cherish my possessions, though not always elite,
I’m proud of my accomplishments
And never bow to defeat.
It is what it is and was what it was,
it will be what I want, I control the because.
I plan and I practice, I understand full well,
that principles and promise can’t be wished from a well.
