Hello there! I had a fantastic experience flying Cathay Pacific MXP Terminal. Check-in to boarding was stress-free and seamless. The terminal Cathay staff were extremely friendly and efficient, and this made the experience seamless. The lounge is well worth a visit—plenty of seating space, clean facilities, and good snacks. I also enjoyed the tranquility, particularly compared to the busier areas of the airport. Even the boarding itself was efficient and well-organized. I departed feeling relaxed and ready for my long-haul flight. Bravo to Cathay for upholding high standards. I would be more than happy to fly out of MXP with them again.
Terminal Overview
Cathay Pacific operates from Terminal 1 at Milan Malpensa Airport. This terminal is the larger of the two at MXP and is primarily dedicated to international and intercontinental flights. It is equipped with modern amenities, premium lounges, high-end retail options, and streamlined security services, all designed to support a seamless travel experience.
Terminal 1 is divided into three areas: A (Schengen flights), B (non-Schengen flights), and C (extra-Schengen flights and long-haul departures). Cathay Pacific flights typically operate from Area B or C, depending on the flight’s final destination and time of departure.
Check-in and Baggage Services
Cathay Pacific provides dedicated check-in counters for its flights at Terminal 1, usually located in Zone 10. Check-in typically opens 3 hours before departure and closes 60 minutes before departure for most international flights.

- Priority check-in for Marco Polo Club, oneworld Sapphire, and Emerald members
- Self-check-in kiosks for added convenience

Security and Passport Control
Cathay Pacific passengers benefit from Fast Track security clearance when traveling in Business or First Class or if they hold elite status in the Marco Polo Club or oneworld alliance. Fast Track allows expedited access through security, which can be especially beneficial during peak travel times.
For non-Schengen flights, passengers will also pass through passport control, where biometric scanners and e-gates are available to speed up processing for eligible travelers.
