Yesterday I had a call with a friend who was really anxious about what's going on.
Her fiance has COVID-19 and she's currently separated from him.
She wanted my advice on how to manage her anxiety. My answer was clear, "Rather than manage your anxiety, focus on sustainable peace." I encouraged her to create a clear schedule throughout the day for her spiritual, anxiety relief practices. (I recently gave her a sneak peek of my free anxiety relief workshop so she was already familiar with the lessons.)
I suggested that she schedule the affirmation meditation first thing in the morning, the EFT tapping video mid-day, and the prayer, and breath-work at night before bed. I literally told her to put all of this in her google calendar with the links to my Anxiety Relief Workshop so that she can stick to her practice.
Here's the deal...
We can't turn to our practice each time we're extremely unsettled or anxious. We need to have a sustainable practice right now. We have to schedule it in as the most important part of our day. I know that my meditation and spiritual practice is what's getting me through this time. Don't underestimate the power of consistency. The more routinized you are about your spiritual practice the calmer you will feel. Sustainable peace is required of us now.
