Welcome to my abode
You will notice on my table
there is one placemat
one glass
one plate
Off to the left is the sink
Don’t mind the dirty dishes
They’re from yesterday
I will not waste water
to wash them everyday
I wait
If passing my dwelling
late at night
the lone light
shining from my living room
is the only one you will see
There is no upper storey
with an abundance of brightness
to make the meter man smile
During the late night hours
I don’t see the need
to waste my money
on an empty, well lit room
So, welcome
Make yourself at home
The kettle is waiting for warmth
The chairs want to get worn
And I could use the company
