In essence, tongue-and-groove laminate flooring is made to lock together quickly and securely. Layout the first row of planks along the longest wall with the tongue side facing out, as this will help the laminate flooring to lock together. Place the tongue of the following plank at a slight angle into the groove of the first plank. The plank should then be pressed down to lock it in place. Move on to the following row, beginning with a cut plank to stagger the steams, and repeat this procedure for the entire row. When fitting the final row of planks, use spacers to maintain a consistent expansion gap between the floor and the walls.
