The Infiniti Q60 finally meet its maker in 2022 after speculation about its impending demise the year before last. Infiniti had been in production for six years, and now the luxury sports coupe is discontinued for the 2023 model year. It means there will be no Infiniti Q60 2023.
Infiniti sold just 2,729 Q60s in the United States in 2021, the most recent full year of sales for the vehicle, according to the auto sales data website GoodCarBadCar. It becomes clear why the car is being discontinued when compared to the 13,894 Q50 sedans and 19,196 QX50 crossovers, both of which are built on the same chassis as the Q60. In spite of this, the Japanese automaker predicts that dealers will continue to stock plenty of extra Q60s in their inventories "well into 2023" if you still want to purchase one.
This is not particularly surprising given the continued rise in popularity of SUVs and the resulting decline in that of coupes. Infiniti's spokesperson has said that Infiniti is concentrating on the most well-liked luxury automotive segments, such as crossovers and SUVs as well as the upcoming EV they announced that will be made in the United States.
Some of us will miss the Q60 despite how foreseeably this discontinuation occurs. The successor to the beloved G Coupe managed to provide AWD and as much as 400 hp (406 PS / 298 kW) in a beautiful, opulent package, and it did so at a relatively reasonable price point, which is something not frequently found in today's cars. The new Nissan Z, which will most likely be the last Nissan-produced vehicle to come equipped with a twin-turbo V6, will, however, continue to use its powertrain (albeit with two fewer driven wheels).
