Bitdefender vs. Kaspersky: Which Antivirus Protects You Best?
Everyone wants the best possible protection against viruses. It can be difficult to choose between them, even for us. If your goal is to get the most effective virus protection, you can limit it to Bitdefender and Kaspersky. In this article, we'll dig deeper and try to help you choose between two winning products.
Kaspersky Antivirus Key(https://www.bzfuture.com/bitdefender-internet-security-minitool-partition-wizard-pro-global-keys-pack_5374-20.html) costs more
At first glance, you could say that these two products cost the same price. As with list prices, a three-license subscription costs $ 59.99, as always. However, with five licenses, Buy Bitdefender Internet Security(https://www.bzfuture.com/bitdefender-internet-security-minitool-partition-wizard-pro-global-keys-pack_5374-20.html) at $69.99 and Kaspersky $ 79.99. You have to search to find the price of 10 Kaspersky licenses and if you find it, you will not like it. The list price of a 10-pack from Kaspersky is $ 129.99 versus $ 79.99 for Bitdefender.
Like most antivirus programs, these products are always sold at a discount for the first year. However, the discounts don't last, unlike the list prices. Kaspersky costs more.
Labs love them both
Each laboratory has its own way of reporting results, from simple numerical scores and alphabetical scores to performance categories. Over the years, I have developed an algorithm whereby all ratings can be mapped on a 10 point scale and an overall rating can be derived. Bitdefender achieved the highest score of all products tested by at least three labs with 9.9. The current Kaspersky score is "only" 9.7.
Bitdefender also detected 99% of fraudulent websites in my phishing protection test. Kaspersky has consistently hit or nearly 100%, but in the last test that number dropped to 96%. With some ups and downs, there is no clear winner here.
Buying ransomware
Bitdefender and Kaspersky contain components specially designed for protection against ransomware. Why the special treatment for this type of malware? The problem here is that if a ransomware attack bypasses your antivirus for even a short period of time, you will have lost access to the encrypted files. Removing the malware later does not help and may even affect your attempt to pay the ransom.
In the test kit, Kaspersky intercepted and removed the full disk encryptor, while Bitdefender's ransomware detection completely failed. Bitdefender grabbed the screen locker while Kaspersky didn't see it. However, Kaspersky included a lock screen unlock feature that fixed the problem.
Most security companies reserve the right to add a virtual private network or VPN to their Security Suite products. Bitdefender and Kaspersky offer VPN protection based on antivirus programs. But there is a catch.
The VPN protection associated with your antivirus is limited to 200MB of traffic per day. It also limits the VPN servers you can choose from. Kaspersky increases the limit to 300 MB per day if you are logged in to the My Kaspersky online console. However, since this connection takes up part of your bandwidth, it is a failure. They both license the VPN technology from the same source, Hotspot Shield. Obviously, the mere presence of a VPN is not enough to put one antivirus program before another.
Properties
Kaspersky and Bitdefender include a vulnerability scan, and Kaspersky offers a collection of cleaning tools that are roughly the same as Bitdefender's exclusive package functionality. But for the most part, Bitdefender rules the additional roost.
Bitdefender offers you, among other things: a simple password manager; Browser isolation to protect your online banking sessions; Network protection against exploits; a secure document shredder for deleting files; and an active Do Not Track system that prevents advertisers and others from tracking your online activity. Kaspersky offers all these functions, but not at the antivirus level. You must upgrade to one of the Kaspersky suites to receive it.
Bitdefender Antivirus Plus and Kaspersky Anti-Virus go hand-in-hand in many ways, both excellent up-to-date products. However, Bitdefender has a lower purchase price and offers you much more useful security features. Bitdefender wins our match. Your specific needs will vary, of course, depending on how much weight you give to the categories we used for this story; Maybe that amount of money is not very important to you, or maybe you already have a VPN. Either way, you can't go wrong with Bitdefender or Kasperksy.
