With our 25th Episode the Lab Band honors an American rock band best known for popularizing the Southern rock genre during the 1970s - Lynyrd Skynyrd. Formed in 1964 by a group of high school friends in Jacksonville Florida, and formally adopting the Lynyrd Skynyrd name in 1969, the band gained worldwide recognition for its live performances and signature songs Sweet Home Alabama and Free Bird early in their career. Behind the leadership of vocalist/lyricist Ronnie Van Zant the unique piano playing of Billy Powell and the ever changing guitar cast that included the likes of Allen Collins, Gary Rossington, Ed King and Steve Gaines, Skynyrd sold over 28 million records and are members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We are fortunate to have our new friend, Nashville recording and touring guitarist Roger Coleman and a long time friend, Jeff Tipton join us for the first time on this episode. We hope you enjoy our 5 song tribute to these southern rock legends and as they say - Turn It Up!
