Magician

We kept shiny pennies in our pockets

and blew dandelion wishes to the wind.

Remember when we kept our lips sealed

for that secret dream to come true?

Somewhere along the line,

we became magicians-

turning pennies into nightly tips

and blowing coffee to cool the cup.

Dreams turned into stories we used

for overpriced therapists asking

"What do you think it means?"

If we knew, would we still be in this room?

We grow and shed our dreams-

our pirate clothes and space suits morphed

into lazy day relaxed wear and business suits.



Yet...

We keep that one shiny penny in our pocket- our secret wish- and smile.
