Garage doors are an essential part of the home. Extension springs:

Extension springs store energy by extending and stretching. The extension strings are further classified into three types based on the types of ends. 

1. Open-loop ends- These springs don’t need opening eyebolt or disassembling the pulley. 
2. Double-loop ends- These springs are stronger than open-loop springs since they are attached to a pulley and eyebolt.
3. Clipped-loop ends- These springs are more durable of the previously mentioned two types. These will hold less stress which results in the prolonged life of springs.

Torsion springs:

Torsion springs are placed above the garage door within a metal shaft. The size of the torsion spring may differ according to the size of the door. Torsion springs equally distribute the tension or energy over the shaft, resulting in an equal spinning rate of cables. These are classified into the following types based on their utility:

1. Standard torsion springs - these are primarily used in residential garage doors and lightweight Wall Mount Garage Door Openers. Steel rolling torsion- These springs are suitable for commercial buildings. 
2. Early set torsion spring- these springs are placed in mid of the shaft. It also requires a lot of hardware to set up.
3. Torque master torsion spring- these springs are considered the safest type of the above springs, enclosed with a torsion shaft and winding cone.
