I think one of humans greatest enemies is fear. It grips the majority of us with such a grasp that we freeze and can't do anything. Fear comes in many different kind of ways. Stage Fright is one example. How many people are too scared to get on a stage and speak there mind, however what if someone needed to hear what you had to say. What if someone was so lost and the one thing you had bottled up could have changed their life in a positive way. If you knew that it would change them, would that have been a deciding factor in wether or not you went on that stage. Too often we are so scared of what people will think of us. In most situations if you say something most people won't remember what you say, however the ones that do will be changed. Another form of fear is greetings. This one effects me a lot. I meet a lot of people that I want to get to know, however I'm so scared of a first impression that I don't go greet the person. I've been told that I have an amazing ability to sense if a person is "good" or not. Too many time I let those good people get away, people that I could have amazing friendships with. People that I've seen over the years that I wished I would have talked too. There are many more versions of fear, but where does it come from. Well as a christian I think fear comes from satan. I think he knows that we could be impactful in benefiting God's kingdom and so he plants this seed of fear in us. A seed that we ourselves nurture into a big plant. I was reading a book called "The Strangest Secret" in this book the author tells a story about your mind. He says your mind is like a fertile field and it will grow what you plant. If you plant thoughts of corn (so positive thoughts) it will grow corn, however if you plant seeds of nightshade (negative thoughts) it will grow that poisonous plant. If you are constantly thinking about negative things than even your sub conscious will start believing that. Your mind is a powerful tool. Your mind is where the Devil likes to play. So fight that battle, use your thoughts in a positive matter. I have spent a lot of the summer saying "You are who you hang out with" and this story in the book proves that. If you are constantly around negative people, your going to think like them and adapt to their negative traits. So I encourage you surround yourself with good people, think good thoughts. Go to a coffee shop or somewhere quiet everyday and just journal. You can do my mothers tactic and journal "I ams." This is a simple exercise, but helps so much. You basically just think I am and end it with something multiple times. I am a child of God, I am a good person, I am a generous person, I am a responsible person... and so on. Also I would encourage you to step out of that fear, think of how your actions that you could be doing could change someones life.
