The Waterbed

My family's tall tale told
when I was six years old
puncturing holes
in the waterbed.
I thought my parents
would never find out
after I stuffed a towel
underneath the bedroom door.
But the flow grew more from the floor.
I tried to absorb more
until the wet feet gone sore-
shouting to myself,
"I gotta absorb more and absurd less!
Curled toes to the more in a lot of pain here!"
Yeah, my toes caught on fire
from all that pain.
I knew I'd be in trouble
handling the way I did
with my father's pocket knife
kept out of his sight.
I knew I couldn't lie nor hide
away from this flood for too long.
The parents were damned at my destruction,
but they took the chiropractor's instruction
to lose the mattress anyway.
We all took it as a lesson:
the only childhood mistake I've ever made
was never realizing it until just now;
I protected their lives at sake.
