But what is a month to month lease? This is also going to be known as a short-term lease or a periodic lease. This is going to be a rental lease agreement that is short-term, usually just one month or so. As long as the proper notice is given, you or the landlord can change the terms of the rental agreement. You can decide to leave when you want and the landlord can change the rent, for example. If you plan to just be in the area for a short amount of time or you just need a short-term stay, then the month to month lease is going to be the best bet for you.

There are some people who the month to month lease will make sense for. If you are traveling for business, waiting for a home to get built, or just need a lease for one or two months, then the flexibility of this type of lease is going to make a lot of sense. But if you plan to stay inn the same apartment for a year or more, then the month to month lease is not going to make a lot of sense for you and can add some instability to the rental process.
