Dear Terrified Friend,
I write to you not of rage or sorrow, nor do I write to you
of desperation or despair.
I write to you with trust and gratitude, as even though I
know what is near, spoil it I do not dare.
There is no way for you to predict the events that have yet
to come, but you keep striving towards a goal with more blindness later on. Many
may wish to warn their past selves—given the chance—but I provide you with
assurance, as that’s all anyone could really ask.
I assure you that no matter what you do, it will be okay in
the end. The only thing I hope for you—my one and only guide—be brave, be you,
be kind.
We all have that shadow following us here and there and,
well, everywhere—that one which we try to hide, that we try to lock away its
powers and pretend it isn’t there, but that’s what makes you stronger, it’s a
necessity you mustn’t let die.
Do not starve is and deprave it of all of it desires. Do not
lock it up in isolation, afraid of its escape.
That is your golden ticket; it’s the beast you must let in,
as once you have control over it, it cannot lead you to ruin.
Some say that there are parts of us that we need to ignore—that
we keep hidden because they’ll just take over, but to keep those parts locked
up in us will only cause us grief, as we cannot let ourselves be true if we are
incomplete.
Be your whole self…don’t be scared. Even though you’re
unaware, those dreams are truly pure.
Be brave, be you, be kind; the world is cruel sometimes, but
we cannot let that choke us up as we are full of life.
No one can live your life like you; you may be an ant in the
scheme of the world, but even an ant can carry plenty food.
Our world craves people like you, people who are true and
wish to pursue so much for humanity despite the harshness construed.
Just be brave, be you, be kind; the world needs you to not
hide.
Love,
Your (Mostly) Satisfied
Future Self
