What to Ask Your Manufacturer
Are Logo Mats Washable?
Berber Point logo mats are rarely washable. In South Africa, most manufacturers create these mats by bonding Berber Point carpet to 3mm insertion rubber. The adhesive used tends to fail when the mats are frequently immersed in water, so it’s not advisable to wash them too often.
If you're looking for mats that can withstand regular washing, jet-printed nylon carpets are a better option. These logo mats are made by heat-pressing tufted nylon onto nitrile rubber, creating a bond that is unaffected by washing. However, keep in mind that the colors will fade over time with frequent washing, and the mats are relatively light, which means they may shift around in busy entrances. Therefore, washability should not be the only factor you consider when investing in mats.
Are They Suitable for Busy Entrances?
When buying a logo mat, it's essential to ensure it's suitable for high-traffic areas. In South Africa, common options for entrance mats include Berber Point carpets, spaghetti mat rolls, and jet-printed nylon tufted mats.
Spaghetti mats are ideal for very busy entrances because they are made from vinyl-looped PVC material. The looped structure effectively traps dirt beneath the surface, preventing it from being tracked into the premises. Additionally, spaghetti mats dry quickly when they get wet, making them convenient for areas with heavy foot traffic.
Berber Point carpets are also excellent at trapping dirt in high-traffic entrances due to the durable polypropylene structure of the carpet.
