See this magical world
Full of dreams and great big schemes
Though life’s gates are not pearled
Unwavering hope and unconditional heart
There’s the promise of greatness
Right from the start.
Minute after minute and day after day
In the making of memories, time ticked away
Soon the bundle of joy had scratched up knees
Then the father of two was the father of three.
Living moments of joy and loving years of devotion
There were smiles, tears and pride through all the commotion.
But in the wink of an eye, a moment, not more,
The father of three has grandfathered four.
Now his skins rough like leather, still his hearts good as gold
His soul has been borrowed, but it’s never been sold.
He’s lived and he’s loved, God knows he’s learned
So much enlightenment from the bridges he burned.
Yes, his life and his times are great lessons to us
For a light shines bright on pitfalls and lust.
Still his passage to wonder seems all but assured
He’s lived a good life and lived true to his word.
Sharing nuggets of knowledge, not nuggets of gold
The gift of understanding from the things he’s been told.
