What are the Duplex Steel Flanges?
Duplex steel flanges are work hardenable alloys that are exceptionally corrosion-resistant. The microstructures of austenite and ferrite are mixed. Duplex flanges have stronger corrosion resistance. As a result, duplex steels are popular. Flanges have qualities that are common to both austenitic and ferritic stainless plates of steel. Duplex Steel Flanges cannot be hardened with heat treatment. When treated, it hardens. After heating to around 1100°C, duplex flanges cool quickly and can be used for solvent treatment or annealing.
Duplex steel, which is Austenitic and Ferritic at the same time, is commonly utilized in applications because of its high corrosion resistance and strength. Duplex steel is typically made up of 22% chromium and 5% nickel. Duplex stainless steel precipitates brittle micro-constituents at temperatures above 300°C, and ductile-to-brittle micro-constituents at temperatures below -50°C; as a result, Duplex stainless steel is not appropriate for usage at these temperatures.
Uses of Duplex Steel Flanges
Sizes range from 1/8 inch to 24 inches for Duplex Steel Forged Flanges. Flanges are divided into pressure groups based on their dimensions. Flanges come in a variety of shapes and sizes, including Duplex Weld Neck Flanges, Blind Flanges, Orifice Flanges, Lap Joint Flanges, and Slip-on Flanges. All of these flanges are employed in various ways depending on their purpose.
For seamless pipes, slip-on flanges are utilized to keep connection points precise. Screwed, plate, forged, and threaded flanges are also available. Male threaded pipe ends are connected with Duplex Steel Threaded Flanges. The female threaded end of these flanges is common. Flat faces, raised faces, and ring-type jointed faces are all examples of distinct types of faces. Depending on the application, different faces or flange types are employed.
Socket weld in Duplex Steel Flanges can hold pipes in place during and after welding. They give a surface for welding and bolt holes to connect to. Duplex flanges are utilized in a wide range of applications, including marine and power generating.
