What is Hastelloy C Ball Valves?
Ball valves are valves that use a spherical part to control the flow of fluids through them. The ball is rotated by an actuator, which opens or closes the valve. Hastelloy C is a type of metal alloy. This alloy is corrosion resistant and has good mechanical properties.
Industrial process industries are always looking for ways to protect their machinery from corrosion. One way they do this is by installing Hastelloy C ball valves in areas where corrosive substances are present, such as oil refineries, chemical plants, pulp and paper mills etc.
Applications of Hastelloy C Ball Valves
Hastelloy C Ball Valves are often used in the pharmaceutical, chemical, petroleum, gas and power industries. This is due to their ability to resist corrosion and high-temperature environments.
Premium Source Quality of Hastelloy C Ball Valves are also used in the process of carbon dioxide compression. They are often placed before or after a compressor. This is because they can be used to prevent air or other gases from entering the system. An example of this would be when CO2 is being compressed for use as an Anesthetic Gas.
The use of Hastelloy C Ball Valves can also be seen in the oil refining industry where they are often present in pressure reducing stations that reduce pressures from 30 psi to 20 psi.
Advantages of Hastelloy C Ball Valves
Hastelloy C steel is used in the valve body, seats, and ball tips for high-temperature service.
Hastelloy C steel offers excellent resistance to thermal fatigue due to its low thermal coefficient of expansion.
It also displays an excellent strength at elevated temperatures.
The alloy is resistant to creep during prolonged service at temperatures up to 1000°C (1832°F).
