What Are Incoloy 800H Tubes?
Incoloy 800H tubes are made from a nickel-iron-chromium alloy that also contains small amounts of copper and molybdenum. The “H” in its name stands for “high strength”—a nod to its superior strength compared to other alloys. Incoloy 800H Tubes are seamless steel pipes made of an alloy of nickel-iron-chromium that has superior strength and resistance to oxidation and carburization. They have a high chromium content which makes them resistant to corrosion even at extremely high temperatures.
They have excellent mechanical properties such as tensile strength, impact toughness, yield strength, modulus of elasticity, thermal conductivity, electrical resistivity, and fatigue limit. They also have excellent creep resistance which means they can be used for extended periods of time at elevated temperatures without losing their mechanical properties or becoming brittle or deformed.
Properties of Incoloy 800H Tubes
Incoloy 800H tubes offer several advantages over other alloys due to their unique properties. For starters, they have high resistance to oxidation at elevated temperatures thanks to their chromium content—up to 1400°F (760°C). They also possess excellent corrosion resistance in both acidic and alkaline environments, making them ideal for use in chemical processing plants. Additionally, these tubes are highly resistant to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) when exposed to chloride-containing media such as seawater or brine solutions. Finally, they have superior creep resistance and can hold up under extreme pressure without deforming or cracking over time.
Given the above properties, it’s no surprise that Incoloy 800H tubes are used in a wide range of industries and applications. These include heat exchangers and condensers in power plants; pipes for transporting corrosive chemicals; process equipment such as columns and reactors; oil refinery components; furnace fixtures; heaters; evaporators; radiators; flanges; muffles; valves; pumps; manifolds; steam traps; tanks; tubing systems; and more. They can also be used in marine applications where they need to withstand exposure to salt water or brine solutions without corroding or failing prematurely.
Features of Incoloy 800H Tubes
Incoloy 800H tubes are highly resistant to corrosion by acids, alkalis, saltwater solutions, and organic compounds. Their superior resistance to oxidation makes them suitable for use in chemical processing equipment where they are exposed to corrosive agents such as sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid. The combination of nickel-iron-chromium gives them excellent heat transfer capabilities which make them ideal for heat exchangers or other equipment that require efficient heat transfer from one medium to another. Furthermore, they have good weldability which means they can be fabricated into complex shapes with ease. This makes them suitable for a wide range of industrial applications including piping systems in power plants, petrochemical plants, and oil refineries.
