About Cricut Iron On
Cricut Iron On is Cricut’s own heat transfer vinyl. Simply, it is a vinyl that adheres to fabric – a t-shirt, cushion, wood, or even metal. Like normal Vinyl, you can cut an iron-on design in Design Space via a Cricut machine, use an iron or heat press or Cricut EasyPress, and then adhere it to your fabric. For Cricut users, sticking to Cricut Iron-on vinyl can be worthwhile.
Moreover, it comes with the same thickness and high quality, assuring the most accurate and excellent cuts.

How to Use Cricut Iron On Vinyl?
Since Iron on Vinyl is more expensive than normal Vinyl, it is a good idea to be aware of proper instructions on the use of it. This will help you in avoiding wasting material by getting something wrong. Please read the instructions below and ensure to stick to them.
Design
Create your design first. Go to design space and create a design there. Or you can download something of your choice from their image store. If you use your own image, upload it to the design space and adjust it to the correct size and shape.
Mirror Image
Go to your screen’s top and click the green GO button on the right of it. Here, you will find the option to select the number of copies, material size, and a tick box (It reads a mirror image for Iron on). Tick the mirror image box and then click the GO button once again.
Select Material
Once another screen opens up, select the material you’re using. For Explore Air 2, move and then turn on the machine’s front right to ‘Iron On.’ You will find it in between Vinyl and Light Cardstock. And for Cricut Maker, you are required to select Iron-On manually. You’ll see it in the drop-down list on this particular screen.
Load Material
Make sure to load the material on the cutting machine properly. Keep the plastic backing down and the vinyl side up. Once you’ve loaded the mat, press the up-down arrow button (left side) to secure the mat. Once done, press the flashing Cricut button (It is in the middle). This will start the process.
Weeding
Once after printing the design, press once again the up-down arrow to release the cutting mat. Draw it out of the machine, and you can now weed your design far away from the spare material and the mat.
Protecting
Turn your design on: Make sure to place it in the right direction with the plastic backing facing up. Ensure to put it in the exact spot you want to adhere to your fabric. Place the Iron-On protective sheet on top of it. Cover it completely. This will protect the Vinyl and the fabric from the heat of the Iron. Also, it will allow the heat to get distributed evenly throughout the entire design. Instead of a Cricut protective sheet, you can also use a thin piece of fabric.
Transferring
First, ensure the steam function is off, and then use an iron and press down on the design under the fabric. Hold it for 10 seconds, and then move to a new position. In the last, test if the Vinyl has fully stuck. The time taken to stick depends on your Iron’s heat strength and design size. But it can be a maximum of a few minutes.
Cooling
The final step is cooling. Leave the Vinyl to cool completely before moving it.
Note: If you want a sophisticated and reliable machine, go for Cricut’s easy press instead of a traditional iron.
