Quote of the day: "Formal learning can teach you a lot, but many basic life skills are skills you need to develop yourself." Lee Iacocca
I made a disappointing discovery in my drawing class this week,
only to do an amazing hour or so later. To be honest
New to this class - this is my fourth lesson - I realized that everyone has a formula for organizing their palette. All
student has a color scheme that he follows very closely, and
everyone applies paint to their palette in exactly the same way.
I just made this observation in this particular class,
Because I never allow myself the freedom to go
attic at the beginning of the previous class. This class
take years. Everyone knows each other
and Clyde, our teacher, has also known his students for many years. They eat lunch together in an hour, joke around and draw, and are generally a big happy family. But I'm afraid of them. They are all very New York artists. Most of them were much older than me, each with ten to twenty years of painting experience. I was the baby in the class. The one with a dozen paintings under his belt. No one actually asked my name. No one paid much attention to it. When I had the courage to ask Clyde about this palette technique, he replied that he could expose his palette in the right way with the very right colors in preparation for painting.
They didn't teach me that. The previous two teachers did
It's very different: my original teacher, Louisa, is Colombian. A brilliant artist, he painted with Latin American flair. With courage, but with precision. We students paint cheerfully

our refreshing housemaids, tired artists, with hot pipes
Espresso at the click of a finger. We found our palette
by applying paint to the Styrofoam sheet and only applying the color we thought we should paint that day.
My second teacher only gave me six lessons. He hated the idea of plates, and when I showed up in my first grade with a pile of Styrofoam, he automatically sent me in the new people's trash. He insisted I go out and buy a suitable palette and fire up the glass cutter to cut a suitable rectangular piece of glass. It's just the right palette - and without it I wouldn't dare go to class! And again we apply color as needed to our particular day's image.
Until he got into Clyde's famous Silvermine class
New Canaan School of Art, with a matching glass palette
My hands feel pretty safe. Multiple screens, folded
under my arm, my big art basket, full of tubes, brushes,
Charcoal, liquid, turpentine and the like, I've calmed down quite a bit
simple. And Clyde never talks to me about my palette. Quick
In this fourth grade, I finally asked Clyde about this palette
a number of. He immediately went to Alex's horses and took him with him

Idea for glass. I want to use the cover palette for disposal-
glued to the tray table. Hmmm.
A few hours later I went to the local library to look for it
Painting by Wolf Kahn. No luck. But I read the last issue
from American Artist Magazine, which publishes inspiring articles about John Asaro. I pressed his work - it has an unusual palette of beautiful bright colors and fresh and bold touches - to get to the bottom of the article and see that there is a very precise palette that the author mispronounced. It was different from Clyde's.
Why is all this about my art and palette classes? Most of you
However, don't paint with oil!
The lesson is: All three are art teachers
very accomplished. They are all fruit artists. Everyone has
exhibited in exhibitions. And John Asaro got a national player
I admit. But they had all learned the basics. then
they continue to invent their own techniques. own style.
That's motherhood. There are some basics you need
I study. You need to learn how to properly care for a newborn. How to clean
his ears, suck his nose, bathe him. Something basic
The principles of good hygiene that you should not only practice
yourself, but teach your children. You must study
the basics of good nutrition so that you can provide nutritious food for your family. You need to learn the basic principles of aerobics and weight training so that you can be a fitness model for your kids and help them exercise throughout their lives. You need to learn some classic readings so you can develop your children's minds. I believe it is important to nurture the souls of your children by giving them religious instruction and teaching your children to trust, respect, and love God. The main thing is that you inspire your children with great music that changes their souls and inspires them to thank the giants who came before them.
