I decided to pick the best movie muscle car that has ever been on screen. The goal was to select only muscle cars and only movies so that some serious candidates wouldn't appear on this list because they were from the TV series, not muscle cars, or simply weren't on this list. Anyway, I would like to mention the Plymouth Barracuda from "Our Bridge" [with Don Johnson] in 1970-1971, the Cobra from "Cobra" [with Michael Dudikov], not the muscular but exotic and iconic DeLorean DMC-12 from 1981." Back to The Future", 1977 Pontiac Trans Am from "Smokey and the Bandit", 1958 Plymouth Fury from "Christine", "Kitt" - Pontiac Firebird Trans Am from "Knight Rider", 1969 Dodge" 01 Charger from "The Dukes from "Hazzard ", 1959. Cadillac ambulance from "GhostBusters" and others. Each one is someone's dream car, each one perfect, but here are our TOP 10 movie muscle cars:
1. Bullitt - 1968 Ford Mustang GT 390 from "Bullitt", 1968
1968-ford-mustang-bullitt-steve-mcQueen-poster-This is probably the only Mustang film that hasn't changed. It has 325 horsepower, a true American muscle car under the hood - an aggressive 6.4 liter V8 engine, a 4-speed manual transmission [which seems hard to replace], and sporty rear-wheel drive to keep the fun going. To have a curve. What else do you need from a real muscle car for hunting especially in 1968?
2. 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 440 from Vanishing Point, 1971
1970-dodge-challenger-rt-vanishing-point-This is a hot model with a 375 hp, 440 cubic [7.2 liter] V8 that might play a funny auto soundtrack. Can you find a better car for Kowalski from Denver to San Francisco in 15 hours?
3. Eleanor - 1967 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 from "Gone in 60 Seconds", 2000
eleanor-mustang-1967-Elinor is probably the most copied muscle movie car to ever appear on screen. Although the 1974 original was a hit, the 2000 certainly stole the show. Eleven Eleanor units were built for the film, only 3 of which actually function and drive cars. In the film, he acts like Shelby, but in reality they are modifications of the Mustang's fast spin. The film's transmission is a 4-speed manual, but the cars are cascading automatic for ease of use. A true legend.
4. The Interceptor - 1973 Australian Ford Falcon XB GT Coupe from "Mad Max", 1979.
ford-falcon-interceptor-back-mad-max-This is the most modified car in the movie. The XB GT Falcon was made specifically for the Australian market and only 949 units were made. It comes with a 351 Cleveland engine and a 4-speed manual transmission. The film car retained most of its original interior, but the body had some major changes: a new arc design, rear spoiler, Weiand 6-71 compressor with Scott injectors, 4-pipe carburetor and Zoomies - side pipes. Australians are proud of this car and make copies of it too.
5. Bee - Chevrolet Camaro from "Transformers", 2007
The Transformers Autobot towered above the crowd at the Chicago Auto Show - the Transformer Bee made the Camaro one of the most popular cars of the year. Well, not only does it change and look good, but it also has a modern Amcar engine - a 6.2 liter V8 that makes 426 hp and goes from 0 to 60 in 4.8 seconds ...
6. 1968 Dodge Charger R/T 440 Magnum from Bullitt, 1968
Dodge-Charger-from-bullitt-This black triple 4 speed charger chased the Mustang in the movie "Bullitt" and made one of the greatest car chases ever made. When Springact is performed over the hills of San Francisco, the Charger never fails to hang. Can you name a car today that can do that without ending up being trash?
7. The Cobretti Custom 1950 Mercury Monterey from "Cobra", 1986
mercury-monterey-from-cobra-2-Cobretti [Sylvester Stallone] 1950 Mercury is probably the most important thing in the whole film. It was previously owned by Stallone himself and later built for the film by Cinema Vehicle Services. They scraped the double hood, cleaned the extra seats, installed a small block Chevrolet 383, added a nitrogen-assisted 4-pipe Holley carburetor that also had supercharged Weiand 144 4-wheel brakes. A fine car that reveals Cobretti's identity and makes it into this top 10 list.
