Sweet sweet summer. It's all about creating unforgettable memories, and there's no better way to do that than by traveling to some beautiful places and worlds-exotic-beaches around the world. While you might not be able to do it all (unless you suddenly win the lottery), take a look at the most beautiful places you can visit in the world, and if you choose one, you'll have an experience that will make your summer unlike any other.
1) Lake Hillier, Western Australia – Located on the middle island of the Recherche Archipelago, this lake is famous only for its bubblegum pink color. Although there are theories, the cause of the bright color has not yet been conclusively proven. Whatever the reason, not many people can say they've spent time at Pink Lake, so this unique body of water is definitely worth a visit.
2) Chittorgarh Fort, India – 590 feet tall and spread over 692 acres, this fort is the largest fort in India and a World Heritage Site. Its history is clear as it fought many wars and battles as early as the seventh century AD. The fort has 22 water bodies, palaces, gates, temples and two large monumental towers. Experience the rich history of India by visiting this stunning piece of architecture.
3) Cinque Terre, Riomaggiore, Italy – Literally meaning “five lands”, Cinque Terre is made up of 5 villages nestled in the rugged hills of Italy's northwest coast. Perhaps the most famous of the five villages is Riomaggiore, the southernmost. Although there are many restaurants, small shops and beaches, most tourists come to Riomaggiore to see the vibrant colors of the hilltop houses. This is a unique landscape that cannot be overlooked.
4) Fairy Pools, Isle of Skye, Scotland – Located southeast of Glen Brittle Forest on the Isle of Skye, the so-called Fairy Pools are an expanse of streams and waterfalls. Known for its colorful, clear waters and unique geology, be sure to take plenty of photos as you explore the beautiful scenery. For the brave, the water is perfectly safe for swimming, although it is usually quite cold.
5) Galapagos Islands, Ecuador – This archipelago of volcanic islands located on the equator in the Pacific Ocean, west of Ecuador, is a national park and a World Heritage Site. The picturesque islands are famous for many species found only there, and are a famous contribution to Charles Darwin's theory of evolution. Be sure to check out the many beautiful creatures, including land iguanas, turtles, penguins (the only tropical penguins), sea lions and of course the blue-footed booby.
6) Giant's Causeway, Ireland – United Kingdom Called one of the natural wonders of the world, the Giant's Causeway is a field of approximately 40,000 interlocking basalt pillars that are the result of volcanic activity. However, according to legend, it was actually built by a giant named Finn McCall, who built the building so he could cross the North Channel and fight his enemy (hence: "Giant's Bridge"). The site is now a popular tourist attraction for its unique geology and folklore.
7) Glass Beach, California, United States - Littering is bad, right? Usually, the answer is absolutely yes, but thanks to the wonders of nature, in this case, a garbage dump turned into a unique beach that is now a popular tourist attraction. In the early 1900s, residents of Fort Bragg had a habit of dumping trash along the shore, including glass, appliances, and even vehicles. Over the years, ocean tides have eroded away the debris and left only smooth, beautiful glass. This is a beach like no other.
8) Glowworm Cave, New Zealand – Located in Waitomo, New Zealand's North Island, a visit to this cave is not limited to its beautiful limestone formations. Mostly tourists come in large numbers to see the luminous effect of the many glowing insects found in the caves. Since the glowing insects are the only light source, they create a starry effect that has amazed visitors for years. You won't be able to see the other side.
9) Antalya, Greece – Antalya is an island in the southern Aegean Sea, southeast of mainland Greece. This small village was settled in the 14th century BC and is now a popular tourist attraction. This is due to the gorgeous blue waters that surround the island, as well as the many beautiful houses built into the cliffs along the coast. This beautiful place is considered one of the most beautiful places in Greece, and for good reason.
10) Halong Bay, Vietnam - This large, picturesque bay in northeastern Vietnam, inhabited thousands of years ago by prehistoric people, is considered a World Heritage Site. Features include endemic plant and animal species, huge caves with many large stalagmites and stalactites, beautiful beaches, exotic wildlife, wonderful Travelplaces and deep green waters surrounding some 2,000 small islands. No wonder it is considered one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
