LEGACY

Somewhere in the depths of my Mom`s garage exists a collection of pop bottles, circa 1979 to 1989. They were glass, and substantial, and designed to fit the hand of children the world over. The kids of my generation learned that if we collected enough of them and filled each with a varying amount of liquid, music could be made by blowing into the mouth of the bottles at a certain angle. Man, I loved those bottles.
Nowadays we have plastic. It contains our Coca Cola. It contains our milk. And it contains a number imprinted on the bottom that lets us know it is `recyclable`.
Seriously, this ``Throw-away`` society we have cultivated is robbing us of some of the fundamental enjoyments, some of the art inspiring ``recycling`` we used to enjoy! When is the last time you used a Styrofoam egg carton as a seed starter for your garden? When did you last craft a napkin holder from the sad remains of a toilet paper holder? When, honestly, was the last time you considered making something fun or useful from the stuff you throw away?
Let's get back to Kindergarten where everything is fair game for art. And where glass bottles make music.
