This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Understanding the impact of Bullying. Self harm works for short-term gratification, but it's not a healthy long-term solution for bullying or depression.
Jarryd Willis is a 3rd year Ph.D. student and teacher with a 4.0 GPA in Experimental Psychology at UT-Arlington. He completed his Masters degree in Psychology at UT-San Antonio in 2011, and his research focused mostly on interpersonal relationships for LGBT and heterosexuals. His doctoral research has focused on Political Psychology; in particular, compromise between political parties. Aside from academics, Jarryd is involved in several extra-curricular organizations. He is serving as the public relations director of the Graduate Student Senate for the 2013-2014 school year. He is on the colloquium committee for the Department of Psychology and co-curates the Psychology department’s social media websites (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr). Jarryd also writes for the Huffington Post. Jarryd plans to finish his PhD during the 2014-2015 school year and continue doing what he loves: teaching Social Psychology.
