I can see her crumpled figure,
Shoulders blades threatening to split skin,
Legs splayed across chequered tile,
Grout lines embossed in knee and shin,
I watch each breath undulate, ha-ha
Every knot of her spine visible,
Like tree roots across sodden soil,
Ribcage motionless, naval swallowed in rolls,
As all would but as she does not wish hers,
It reappears to disappear again,
Though I can not see her eyes,
Sullenly slumped with smears of gray,
I know they are fixed,
On a reflection in the murk,
The toilet seat a halo to her chin,
The image all but unfamiliar.
