Becoming a better person is really all about stepping into your potential. Potential is something that all of us have, but it's not something that all of us use. So, becoming a better person starts with you understanding that you have potential. You have a purpose, you have a reason for being here, and it's your responsibility to find that.
Once you know who you are and once you know where you want to go, then becoming a better person is really about compartmentalizing and thinking about what situations you need to put yourself in to become that better person. At that point it's about experience.
The challenge that most people have when they think about becoming a better person is that they try to do it on somebody else's terms. Instead of becoming a better employee they're thinking about what their boss needs from them. Instead of becoming a better spouse they're thinking of what their husband or wife needs from them. So, becoming a better person tends to become something that is a reaction.
I'm encouraging you to be proactive about becoming a better person. Think about where you are, and think about where you want to go. Become a better person on your terms, and by default the people in your personal, professional, and fun life will benefit by default.
As a coach, I believe that when you make a positive change in one area of your life every other area of your life is positively affected.
What we're looking at here when becoming a better person is more a matter of time management. Because if you're putting more energy to becoming a better person at work, and you only have so many hours in a day, it is possible that quality time with your family or your friends may be affected. So, you really need to prioritize which is what time management is all about.
