United Airlines Carryon Baggage Allowance

Are you planning to book your United Airlines flight tickets? You should be aware of the United Airlines baggage policies. United Airlines allows customers to bring one personal item and one carry-on. Your personal item and carry-on must fit within the overhead bin. A carry-on bag's maximum dimensions are 9 inches x 14 inches x 22 inches, with handles and wheels. Personal items should not exceed 9 inches by 10 inches by 17 inches. They must be placed underneath your seat.

Customers are allowed to bring personal items and one carry-on baggage. They can also bring a camera, a breast-pump, a pet carrier (service fees apply for in-cabin pets), reading material, an umbrella, and an FAA-approved safety seat or child restraint system.

There are exceptions to this rule for carry-on bags. Customers travelling on a Basic Economy ticket can only bring one personal item. Carry-on bags are not allowed. After paying the $25 gate handling fee and the applicable check bag fee, a carry-on bag must be checked in at the gate.

United Airlines Checked Baggage Discount

United Airlines baggage policies allows standard checked bags up to 62 inches in length + width + height, including handles and wheels. United Economy has a maximum weight limit of 50 pounds (23kg) for checked baggage. United Business, United First, and United Polaris Business have a maximum weight limit of 70 pounds (32kg). The cost of checked baggage will vary depending on the destination and method of travel.

United Airlines flights offer the convenience of online check-in. Online payment is possible for checked baggage up to 24 hours prior to departure. The United Airlines Official Website allows you to pay for your checked baggage fee online. When you check in online, the checked bag fee is non-refundable.

United Airlines rules regarding overweight, extra and oversized bags

Large bags: United Airlines baggage policies will not accept bags that are more than 115 inches in length, width and height. Customers who have checked bags that exceed 62 inches in length will be charged an additional fee depending on where they are going.

Overweight bags: United Airlines will not accept overweight bags weighing more than 100 pounds (45 kg). However, musical instruments and assistive devices are allowed. Customers are permitted to transport musical instruments up to 165 lbs (75 kg) and all assistive devices.

Customers travelling with checked bags up to 70 lbs (32 kg) in the United Economy may be subject to a $100 per bag charge, depending on their destination. Checked bags that weigh more than 70 pounds (32 kg) or less than 100 pounds, (45 kg), will be charged $200 per bag depending on where they are going. Checked bags over 100 pounds (45 kgs) will not be accepted by the airline.

Additional bags: United Airlines accepts extra bags subject to space limitations. Assistance devices can be carried free of charge by the airline.

Different types of United baggage fees

There are four types of baggage fees United charges: carry-on baggage (checked), overweight baggage (overweight baggage) and checked baggage. The amount of baggage you are allowed to carry depends on several factors, including your elite status and which United credit card you use (if any), the route you choose, and the type of fare you purchased.

United domestic baggage fees

Exemptions for elite status and co-branded credit cards are not available. Economy class passengers will pay $35 for their first checked bag, or $30 if prepaid. Domestic flight passengers will pay $45 for their second checked bag ($40 if prepaid). First and business class passengers can get up to two bags for free.

International baggage fees for United States

Depending on their destination, economy passengers usually receive one to two checked bags free of charge when traveling internationally.
