Riddles. What are they and what are they like?
Guessing riddles is a fun and interesting process which brings pleasure to both children and adults, it gives rich opportunities for the development of speech, attention, thinking and imagination of a child. Before you start puzzling a child with riddles, it is useful to know what they are. And there are all sorts of riddles! And you also need to pick up riddles according to degree of difficulty, depending on the age of the child and their level of individual development.
Descriptive riddles
We suggest starting with descriptive riddles, which even the littlest person will find clues to: List important features and specific details of the object, phenomenon or living creature in question. Descriptive riddles can be simplified or complicated, giving shorter or longer descriptions. Since it is always desirable to be ahead of the child's current level of development (what he or she already knows and knows how to do at the moment), we advise to first ask a more difficult (brief) version of a descriptive riddle, and, of course, to give time to think. But if you see that it is still difficult for the child, it is possible to ask an easier (expanded) variant.
