Our Roots and Purpose
Founded in 2017 and incorporated as a not-for-profit in Queensland, Australia, Grounded Permaculture Action Party Inc. is dedicated to regenerating our sacred connection to country, community and culture. Driven by the simple truth that we are “children of the earth in service to our mother,” the organisation blends the rich ethos of permaculture with creative, community-centred action.
What We Do: Design, Education & Celebration
Grounded Permaculture operates at the intersection of ecosystem design and human culture. Their work spans several domains:
- Events & Gatherings: Transformative, educational, and fun events that bring together people who care about land, design, and community.
- Education & Courses: Online and on-ground opportunities to learn permaculture design, soil regeneration, earthworks and sustainable living practices.
- Enterprises & Projects: Regenerative enterprises and living hubs that demonstrate what a productive, harmonious relationship with land and community can look like.
Why Our Approach Stands Out
Many organisations talk about sustainability – Grounded Permaculture lives it through its distinctive blend of design, celebration and community. Some hallmarks include:
- Rooting in permaculture ethics: care for the earth, care for people, fair share. These are central to everything we do.
- Grounded in action: not just theory, but building, designing, gathering—and celebrating the results. From earthworks to compost systems, from retreats to workshops.
- A community-first attitude: The focus isn’t just “projects” but connection—to land, to people, to culture. At the heart is the idea that regeneration is social as much as ecological.
Education & Learning with Purpose
Whether you’re a curious beginner or an experienced designer, Grounded Permaculture offers pathways that integrate theory, practice and community:
- Permaculture Masterclasses and guides designed to help you grow more food with less effort by working with nature.
- Earthworks and Compost guides that simplify complex ecological practices into accessible resources.
- Events where you can dive into learning, connect with peers, and experience first-hand what regenerative design looks like in practice.
Join the Movement: From Ideas to Action
You don’t need to wait for perfect conditions. At Grounded Permaculture, the invitation is simple: Start where you are, use what you have, do what you can. Whether you have a backyard, a patch of land, or simply a curiosity for a regenerative life, there are spaces here for you.
Participation can take many forms: attend an event, enrol in a permaculture course, volunteer on a project, or simply connect. Through collective effort and shared intention, the vision grows.
A Future Rooted in Regeneration
In a world facing unprecedented ecological and social challenges, Grounded Permaculture’s message is hopeful: regeneration is possible. By designing resilient systems, fostering community, and reconnecting with land and culture, we can build a more sustainable future.
Choosing to engage is more than learning—it’s becoming a part of the change. And when we gather, design, and celebrate together, the transformation extends beyond individual lives to landscapes and communities.
