Introduction:- Carbon SA 516 Grade 60 HIC Steel Plate
Carbon SA 516 Grade 60 HIC steel plate is a type of carbon steel known for its strength, toughness, and resistance to hydrogen-induced cracking (HIC). It is primarily used in the manufacturing of pressure vessels and boilers due to its ability to withstand high-pressure environments and corrosive conditions.
SA 516 Grade 60 is an American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) specification for pressure vessel plates. It contains carbon, manganese, and other elements in carefully controlled quantities to achieve desired mechanical properties and resistance to various forms of stress.
The HIC (Hydrogen Induced Cracking) specification ensures that the steel plate can withstand environments where hydrogen-induced cracking is a concern, making it suitable for applications in the oil and gas industry and other sectors where exposure to hydrogen sulfide and other corrosive substances is common.
This grade of steel provides good weldability and notch toughness, offering a balance between strength and ductility. It typically has a yield strength of around 38,000 psi (260 MPa) and a tensile strength of 60,000 psi (415 MPa), though these values can vary slightly depending on the manufacturer and specific heat treatment.
