Very often, brides worry about the need to follow certain guidelines: this is what their mother or grandmother said, this is what everyone does, or this is what is customary. But now the wedding industry has radically changed from what it was 10-20 years ago, and even 5 years ago everything was different.
That is why some customs and traditions may be (or even should be) avoided. And in our time, many services have appeared that will help in solving this or that problem. So, we decided to highlight eight myths that mislead many brides.
1. The wedding dress must be white
If you have never dreamed of wearing a white fluffy dress and a long veil for your wedding, do not deny yourself the pleasure of buying a wedding dress in delicate shades. The veil can be replaced with flowers: either wreaths with flowers, or just a few flowers in the hair are enough. And now there are many designers who offer wedding dresses in alternative colors: powder pink (blush), sky blue (serenity), and even dresses with floral prints. You can also make the dress unique by adding a colored belt, a lace bolero, or an unusual cardigan.
2. Talented friends are better than a wedding coordinator
Or any other professional at your event. You can't force your girlfriends to be coordinators at your wedding. And uncle can’t be a quest and photographer. Nowadays, wedding coordinators are excellent wedding assistants for every bride, and the cost of their services (and your peace of mind) is not exorbitantly expensive. Let everyone do their job and let friends and family be guests at your wedding.
3. If you were at their wedding, then you should invite you too
This is generally an eternal problem for many. And you don’t have to feel obligated to someone if you were invited to a wedding, but you don’t want to invite them. In the end, everyone has their own budget and celebration format. And yes, it's your day. Invite people you consider close. And even if someone decides without an invitation that they are going to be a guest at your wedding, simply explain that due to space or budget constraints, you had to shorten the guest list.
4. Wedding organizer is very expensive
This is probably one of the biggest misconceptions of our brides today. A wedding planner, first of all, will help you not only save your wedding budget but also make sure that you do not go beyond this budget. Moreover, it is in the interests of the wedding planner to offer you unusual wedding ideas that have not been used anywhere else.
Organizers work closely with wedding photographers, florists, restaurants, and decor rental companies, and often have their discounts that they can share with you. At the same time, they organize everything in such a way that you can find any decor in a short time. Not a bad benefit, right? Even if you cannot afford a wedding planner to fully prepare for the wedding, use the services partially. Many organizers now offer different options for cooperation, from full organization to just wedding consultations.
5. Wedding handmade decor will help you save
Make no mistake - doing something yourself is not always the most economical way out of a situation. You don't always have access to wholesale suppliers of materials, and you may be surprised by how long it takes to make parts. Therefore, before buying flowers, materials, or stationery, conduct an accurate study of how much effort and time you will need to produce, and whether it would be better to entrust this matter to a professional.
6. You must take a loan to pay for your wedding
Or even sell your apartment, car, and all your property. You don't always have to go into debt to pay for your wedding. There are many ways to save money so that your wedding goes well. Try to prioritize. If you have always dreamed of a designer dress, then invest the main budget in it, and it is better to save on the rest. In any case, some points are more important to you, and some less. It’s on the latter that you can save money.
7. The DJ plays songs too outdated and the band takes too many breaks
Talk to your DJ about which songs you don't want to hear and which ones you love to ensure there are no unpleasant surprises on your wedding day. As for bands, yes, when the band plays, everyone dances, but as soon as the band takes a break, everyone immediately goes back to their places and gets bored. Therefore, during these pauses the host will help you, entertain the guests.
8. All wedding dresses are similar
Why do some dresses cost $500 and some $5,000? What difference does it make what to buy for one day if they are all similar, right? But we are talking about the quality of fabric, decorations, accessories, and even the quality of tailoring. Yes, sometimes you pay for the name of a luxury brand, but brands will never allow themselves to sew low-quality materials. This, of course, does not mean that you should go over your wedding budget to buy your “dream dress,” but good wedding salons will offer you a good option that fits your budget. Be sure to trust the professionals.
