The marquee India-Pakistan apparatus in the 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup will occur on June 9 at Eisenhower Park in New York, as per the competition plan delivered on Friday. India will play the initial three of their gathering matches in New York and the fourth in Florida. Reigning champs Britain take on Australia on June 8 in Barbados.
The competition, which is being co-facilitated by USA and the West Indies, is booked to start on June 1, with USA playing Canada in Dallas, and end with the last on June 29 in Barbados. The semi-finals are booked for June 26 in Guyana and June 27 in Trinidad.
The 55 games will be played across six settings in the West Indies (Kensington Oval, Barbados; Brian Lara Cricket Foundation, Trinidad; Provision Arena, Guyana; Sir Vivian Richards Arena, Antigua; Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, St Lucia; Arnos Vale Arena, St Vincent) and three scenes in the USA (Eisenhower Park, New York; Lauderhill, Florida; and Fantastic Grassland, Texas).
The groups in Gathering A will be based totally in the USA for the gathering stage, while Gathering B and C will play their games in the West Indies. Just the groups in Gathering D have matches parted between the USA and the West Indies. Aside from playing Pakistan on June 9, India take on Ireland on June 5, USA on June 12, and Canada on June 15. Pakistan’s other three gathering installations are against USA on June 6, Canada on June 11, and Ireland on June 16.
The 2024 T20 World Cup will be challenged by 20 groups – an increment from the 16 that partook in the 2022 competition in Australia – split into four gatherings of five each. The main two groups from each gathering will progress to the Very 8 round, in which the groups will be additionally separated into two gatherings of four each: A1, B2, C1 and D2 in one gathering, and A2, B1, C2 and D1 in the other gathering. The gathering stage will run from June 1 to 18, and the Very 8 round from June 19 to 24 completely in the West Indies. The best two groups in every Very 8 gathering will then fit the bill for the semi-finals.
Britain are the reigning champs, having beaten Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup last in Melbourne. Canada, USA and Uganda will show up at a Men’s T20 World Cup.
