What am I doing?
I know this is wrong.
It's gone on too long.
I can help stewing
the words I'm still chewing.
Impulse and passion.
But what of devotion?
Of your own emotion?
You ignore your own ration
Bad habits become our fashion.
Even though I deny
and even though I say
we can't go on this way.
You see through my guise
Through fated breath and sighs.
I know you love her.
This is why I can't comprehend
The actions you don't defend.
At night you stir
Left with your unease to squander.
And I am left with mine.
Me, the other woman.
But we are only human.
We have to draw the line
Morals to review and refine.
Though I love the affair
I love the secrecy, the mystery
The addictive fix of ecstasy
We're an awful pair.
And lying to her is unfair.
If this is the path you choose
Then I'll share your bed
On this path we carefully tread
But remember that we're human.
