Who am I but an echo in time, a drop of water in the ocean?
How could one drop alone create waves?
It doesn't, it simply rides them.
I am nothing.
I am just a grain of sand, a part of something bigger, yet I get no credit for it.
Surely there must be something I can do to bring value through my life?
Being human is such a beautifully tragic phenomenon.
We live, but we can't fully comprehend that we are life itself.
Many drops of water form the ocean.
Ergo, those very drops are the ocean just as much as the ocean is them.
We don't truly understand how connected to life we are as a human.
We spend eternity trying to come up with some divine purpose for our existence, but there isn't really a definitive answer to it.
I believe we must simply enjoy the fact that we are here, and do the best we can to make something beautiful with it.
But how?
How can we leave some part of us behind?
Well, we already do, in the words we speak, and the actions we take.
One kind word to someone inspires a thought to occur to someone.
Maybe they aren't as worthless as they thought, maybe they can do the things they're afraid to do.
We may not see the impact of our actions immediately, but I can assure you, they ripple out throughout all of humanity.
Because of that kind word, that person brings that same kindness to others, uplifting them and telling them to shoot for the stars.
Because he does that, his friend decides to follow his dream of becoming a writer and achieves his dream.
Because he does that, he inspires millions through his work and causes others to follow in his example.
You see, life is an intricate series of webs, and we're all connected.
We may not realize it, but every action we take, affects the whole of humanity, we just can't see it from our limited perspectives.
Each and every day, we leave a legacy behind, be it one of kindness and love, or cruelty and hate.
Watch how you live your days, and you'll discover exactly what your legacy will be.
It is through this that you'll discover you are not riding the waves, you are the waves.
