INFLUENCE AND NEGOTIATION

When we look back in history, we can see that the most powerful political leaders had one thing in common - they were gifted in the art of persuasion. They were masters at influencing the beliefs of the people they governed. Skip ahead to today’s political climate and we find Donald Trump leading the polls in the USA Republican primaries. From my comfortable seat in sane and sensible Canada, I stare dumbfounded at the computer screen as I read yet another news article on the political bumblings of this bigoted, garrulous man. A man who ran his company into the ground on four occasions and walked away not only from his debtors, but from the many people in his employ who were looking to him for leadership. A man who will potentially do the same to the American public when his strategies on foreign policy and cultural diversity bring down his country.
I’m asking the question - how is it that he has persuaded so many Americans that he is the best choice to sit in the Head Honcho’s Seat in Washington?
