UNIQUENESS

Emma was two years old when she first learned to whistle. She’d be playing quietly, and then suddenly break out into a tuneless tune and it was one of the most unique, relentless, beautiful sounds in the world.
Ditto when, at the age of six she decided she could sing.
It wasn’t until high school that she took up the guitar. She’d disappear into her room and I was always thankful that her moody teenage angst found an outlet that didn’t revolve around drugs or alcohol. With the help of YouTube videos Emma taught herself to play guitar, and when a year later she played me a song I was stunned. The little girl that couldn’t hold a tune had become a musician behind that closed bedroom door. And when she sings to me now, her fingers plucking out a beautiful melody, it is still one of the most unique, relentless, beautiful sounds in the world.
