Who listens to details but hears what's between

She may interject to keep you on track

But mostly she's patient and cuts you some slack

Her thoughts on your thoughts are like drops of gold

Your friendship is recent or several years old

Distance between you has really no bearing

Whatever the topic, it's always worth sharing.

You just never know, what light she may bring

To an idea you have, it could be anything--

Maybe a job change, a gift, or vacation

A color of paint, a new medication

It could be your children or a romantic date

Something exciting, that really can't wait.

The very best part of whatever you say

Is she loves you in spite of yourself, anyway.

You know who she is, the friend that I mean

She's there for the peaks and valleys between.
