HP transport minister G S Bali resigns
Himachal Pradesh Transport Minister G S Bali has resigned from his post, citing "personal reasons". The announcement came just days after the BJP government in the state took oath of office.
The transport minister had been in office since 2017 and his resignation follows the recent elections in which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gained a majority in the state.
Bali was one of the few ministers who remained in office throughout the previous Congress government's tenure. He was also an MLA for three consecutive terms from 2003 to 2017.
His resignation comes amid increasing public scrutiny and criticism of the government's handling of issues such as price rise and unemployment. Bali is known to be a vocal critic of Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, who is also from the BJP.
Bali said that he had taken the decision to resign after consulting his family members and that he would continue to serve the people of Himachal Pradesh through social service activities. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for giving him an opportunity to serve the people of Himachal Pradesh.
The BJP has not yet announced a replacement for Bali, but speculation is that it may soon appoint a new transport minister.
Shimla district administration orders closure of schools

The order comes after the District Magistrate issued a notification that all educational institutions in Shimla district should remain closed till January 3rd.
