In the Internet world, the terms web page and website are often misused to express the same thing, but they have many differences. Indeed, web pages and websites are not synonyms. Customers, users and the general public need to learn the scope of each of these terms and use the words web page and website interchangeably.
Difference Between Website And Webpage
Web page: A web page is defined as a single digital document or a solitary page from any website that can be viewed online. Every web page has a unique URL used to render or access that page. You can make the similarity with a book, where each page has a different content and is identified with a different page number. The content of a web page is very varied. It can be a page containing text, graphics, forms, images, audio and video in static and dynamic formats.
Website: A website is a site located on the global computer network or World Wide Web (www) that is characterized by containing several web pages under the same domain name and linked to each other through hyperlinks.
The quickest way to recognize the difference between a web page and a website is by understanding that a website comprises several pages linked under the same domain name. When entering a website and reviewing its top menu, you can generally find the name of the web pages that comprise it, and when you click, you will "jump" to said pages (although there are exceptions such as One Page).
