Printers are essential gadgets for every workspace. Nowadays, printers are also becoming necessary for the home. Kids often require printouts of important notes, projects, etc. Instead of writing, people prefer taking printouts of online notes. New printers also offer scanning features. You can easily scan documents using a printer. Modern printers are very reliable and robust.
However, like other gadgets, your printer can also show errors sometimes. One common error in printers is g2000. This error code can appear due to various reasons and the printer stops working.
Troubleshooting the g2000 error code in the printer
Power restart the printer
Whenever a printer shows any error code, you should check for runtime errors. These errors mainly appear when some of the printer services stop working. To fix those files, you can power restart the printer. Go to your printer and ensure that the printer is turned on. Eject the power cable from the printer and wait for 10 seconds. Reconnect the printer and it will start automatically. All printer services will start running from the beginning. Go to the connected device and try to take a printout.
Check printer driver
If you get 5b00 error Canon g2000 then you should check for the printer driver. Your printer shows an error code when it can’t find the driver. You need a driver to communicate with the printer. Without the correct printer driver, your print commands won’t transfer to the printer. Go to the connected PC and check for the driver. If you don’t have the driver then install it from the website. Sometimes users install the wrong driver for the printer. Every printer model has a different driver. Check the printer model and then install the driver. If you already have a driver then check for its update. Install the latest update of your printer driver and then check for an error code.
Reconnect the printer
Your printer can show printing issues when it is not connected correctly. If the printer is not working and showing an error code then reconnect it. For a wired connection, inspect the USB cable. Eject cable from both devices and inspect the ends. If the USB cord is damaged then get a new cable for the printer. Make sure you are using a high-speed cable for the printer. In case, your cable is fine but the printer is facing an error then check for its USB port.
Connection errors can appear when the USB port is loose. Use another USB port to connect your printer. If you are using the printer wirelessly then you should check Wi-Fi. Go to the router and restart it. Now check the printer and restart the Wi-Fi button. Printer’s Wi-Fi lamp will start blinking. Now check the printer’s screen for available networks. Select the correct network name from the list. Hit the connect button and the printer's Wi-Fi lamp will become steady. After connecting the printer to the network, check for the connected PC. Send a print command to your PC and take your printouts easily.
Reinstall the cartridges
Go to your printer and check for installed cartridges. Your printer won’t work if it can’t find the cartridge. Sometimes, the user installs the cartridge wrongly and the printer can’t recognize it. While installing a new cartridge, you have to remove the plastic clips. These clips are to protect the cartridges from any mishandling. But you have to remove the clips before installing the cartridge on the printer.
The error appears when the user forgets to remove the plastic clips and the cartridge pins can’t touch the printer's contact slip. Eject the cartridge and take out the plastic clips. Now clean the cartridge and slot carefully. Reinstall the cartridge to the printer and now check for your error.
Check for ink level
Printers can give poor printouts or show error codes when the ink level is very low. Go to your printer and check for the ink level. If the ink level is very low then you have to install a new cartridge. Open the cartridge slot and remove the empty cartridge. Now take a new cartridge, remove the plastic clips, and install it carefully. Send a print command and now your printer will start working correctly. Meanwhile, some users reported that they are getting error codes after installing a new cartridge.
This problem appears when the user has installed a clone cartridge on the printer. Many printer models do not support clone cartridges. You need an original cartridge to take the printouts. But original cartridges are too pricey than third-party cartridges. If you can’t purchase an original cartridge then buy ink. You can purchase good quality ink for your printer and refill it. Eject your empty cartridge from the printer and then refill the ink. After refilling the ink, close the cartridge carefully and reinstall it to the printer. Now your printer will start working and taking printouts.
Run a printer troubleshooter

On Windows devices, you can use a utility tool. Go to the PC and search for a troubleshooter. Now search for a printer troubleshooter and run the tool. This tool will start checking the printer files. If any file is corrupted, the printer troubleshooter will fix it. After running the tool, retry to take your printouts.
Clean the printheads
Printheads often get clogged with dry ink and need cleaning. If you don’t clean the printhead, they get clogged and start showing errors. For this problem, you can run a printer utility tool. Go to the printer and check for Utilities. Select the Clean Printhead option. Now run the tool 3-4 times for removing all clogged ink. You can also clean the printheads manually.
Use a lint-free cloth and a few drops of water. Remove all ink and wait until printheads get dry. Now reinstall the printheads carefully to the printer and check for errors. If your printer is still showing the same error code then you should talk to a technician for help.
