My new career is in blade sharpening in beautiful Cape Town, South Africa.
I have no idea why I have this as my new way of making money and don't know if it is even a worthwhile pursuit, but something has drawn me to this so I am going to pursue it until I can find out why this particular avenue is the one that seemed to come to me.
So far I have built a website, done some posts on Facebook and posted on the street groups around my residence in Cape Town.
I am offering the following services
Knife sharpening
My core service is knife sharpening. This entails using my whetstone grinding wheel to redo the edges of knives to make them super sharp again. It is a very soothing experience and gives me some peace when everything else is in chaos.
Scissor sharpening
The second focused service is scissor sharpening I can sharpen any type of scissor except hardressing scissors. I will be investigating that though as it seems to be a popular and in-demand service But for now, I can do sewing scissors, general household scissors, kitchen shears and dressmakers or tailors scissors.
Knife repairs
I repair broken knife tips and chipped knife edges. My knife repair service saves people money in that they do not need to throw away their knives when they get damaged but can rather have them reconditioned to cut like new again.
Tool Sharpening
My equipment also sharpens a range of tools such as screwdrivers, plane blades and chisels. I have all the jigs needed for my tool sharpening service so that I can sharpen and repair blunt and damaged hand tools.
As this business is still in its fledgling stage its hard to tell where it will go from here but I am most certainly going to pursue it and hope that it can turn into a good business to be able to provide for my family
